Wanted: Cheap painter on AK North Shore

Postby beeker » Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:12 am

I want to install a new fiberglass hatch and bib on the AE86, but the local paint shop scared me silly with a quote for painting. As its a race car, it just needs to be an OK job, as opposed to perfect.

What is a fair price to paint a new fiberglass hatch and bib ? and who would you recommend that'll give me a good price ? Prefer on the North Shore or central Auckland.

thx in advance.

I'm doing it myself, it doesn't turn out to be half bad actually
and it's amazingly cheap if you do it yourself.

I've used aerosol cans and they're $40 for the 1st can and $20 for each can after, 1 can i'd say it's good for approx 1 sideskirt and a bit more, for 5 layers of paint.

But now I've got hooked up with a compressor and a gun, it's a lot cheaper ($40 for about 5 aerosol cans worth of paint).

Gonna see how it goes.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Glenfield Car Painters are usually fair on pricing. Ask if they will do a cash folding deal and specify that it just has to look okay not show room.

blue one was done properly to shwo quality so costed ALOT more than $1200
Done by Graeme Hughes Panel Beaters.

The black one was just a quick asian paint job took like 3-4 days.
The colour looks a little plastic if u get what i mean....and it comes out a little orange pealy but you just get them cut out.
