Tire shop in Dunedin

Postby AE85coupe » Wed Aug 09, 2006 10:25 pm

hey does anyone work at or can recommend a good tire shop i can get some tires put on some rims?

the best would be someone who could do it as a perk for some cash or whatever

thing is the tires are 185/60/14's and the rims are 8 and 8.5 inch wide, so it will require a good quality tire machine that can stretch them on (bead blast?)

cheers

Can probably find you cheap tyres, wouldn't want to fit them to those rims however

You'll find most tyre shops will be hesitant to fit them, for safety reasons and so forth as it can come back on them in the event of a mishap.

whats unsafe about stretched tires?

i'm using 60 profile tires so there is plenty of sidewall to take up the stretch, my rears are only 8.5 inches wide and not 9 like in the above picture

Risk of popping off the bead, same as having tyres too wide for a rim.

while we are on the subject of tires does anyone know if 235 tires can fit on a 6inch rim?

235s will probably fit, having said that I wouldn't do it. 215s on mine and I wouldn't want to go wider without going to a 7 inch rim or wider
