My mate has just started chucking some aftermarket extractors on a 3k only to find that the intake manifold has some funny join to the standard extractors which essentially seals the intake manifold at the bottom. I have attached picture with the offending part circled.
Does anybody have any quick and nasty tricks for sealing this off or getting around the problem some other way. The obvious answer is to weld a plate over but I'm not sure how well a weld would hold on a crappy 30yr old cast manifold plus he doesn't have access to a welder and would rather avoid paying much for a solution. Putting the standard extractors back on is not an option as they had holes in them.
I know this is kinda clutching at straws but thanks in advance for any bright suggestions.
