Not sure about that diagnostic code. I had the same sort of symptoms and it was a loose connection. In my case the injectors were not firing - you can tell that by plugging an LED into an injector plug. Have to try the LED both ways around...

Usually, the cold start injector is wired differently to the main injectors and I would say that only the cold start injector is running your engine.

If you're who I think you are, I was talking to you about this yesterday. :P

After giving it some thought, I reckon it's a vaccum leak...

If it's trying to idle and air is getting in after the throttle body, it's going to run lean.
Which means the computer goes "WTF? but the throttle is shut, and air is coming into the engine."
So it assumes that the TPS is faulty, as it think's it's actually partially open, when the voltage from the TPS signal would indicate that it's shut. (Because it is!)
So it thinks it's a problem with the TPS, rather than an air leak.

Although if this were the case, then it would surely see that the AFM isnt reading properly either, and throw an AFM code...

Although I dont think the engine monitors the AFM when idling regardless?

also, IIRC, there are two different conditions that trigger the fuel pump being on.
One is when you're cranking it over, the other is when the ECU outputs a voltage to the circuit opening relay. If the wiring to the circuit opening relay wasnt hooked back up properly (seems unlikely to me) then you wouldnt be getting fuel once you stop cranking the engine.

There are two pins you can short out on the diagnostic terminal to maek the fuel pump run constantly, (cant remember which off the top of my head)

You could try doing that, to eliminate lack of fuel as a possibility.

Or yeah, see if your injectors are working.

Double check all of your earth cables, I've been caught out like that. haha.

Also maybe your cam timing has been setup wrong? Been there too. hehe.

Yeah I understand how you feel about price difference.

But at least with this, you KNOW that it's all in good condition, rather than buying an unknown engine that fell off the back of a truck, if you know what I'm saying.

yep, i fully agree with this comment.
it may seem cheaper to buy a second hand engine at the time. but it can so easily end up being a full rebuild anyways. so why waste the money in the first place.

do it right and do it once

Code 41 is TPS. No TPS, no acceleration enrichment, so the engine dies when you open the throttle. Pretty simple really.

So if you replaced the TPS and you're still getting a code 41, the problem probably lies in the wiring or ECU. Start by checking the continuity of the wires from the TPS to the ECU.

as said that code is tps.

Faulty or wired wrong,
If you unplug it and leave it unplugged the car will start and run.

If not, look elsewhere.

well me and the mech started into cleaning the throttle body and then i noticed an intercooler pipe not quite connecting properly due the hose being to short , did a fix it job until i can get a longer intercooler hose on monday ,but im sorted :D :D :D now i just have to run it in ,i ve never run in a new engine before
shit oil for the first 500 km and then on to witch good oil ?mobil 1 ?, They reckon drive it normaly ,but i dont think they now how i drive normaly,
so i think ill just do alot of long motor way runs at night not really going over 4000 revs , is this a good idea??
thank youy toy speed you guys have been invalueableeble and i think i might tag along the your cruise sweet

No, DONT GO ON THE MOTORWAY!!!!

You don'ty want the rpm to sit still, you want it to be going up and down. Just drive around town/streets so your going up and down through the gears/rpm.

And you want the motor to see boost in the first 50-100km, to help bed the rings in.

i figured as much! i couldnt bring myself to do the motorway thing it didnt seem right i guess ive done 100awesome kms now just boosting to 4 - 4500rpm max, at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle around the north west and waitakeres(no straights there). i plan on doing that until oil change @500 km ,so after how many km can i give it 6500 - 7000 rpm, my guess is take it easy for near 2500 km and then it will be safe give it death all day ????
