Gearbox problems

Postby ollieboy » Mon Aug 07, 2006 12:56 am

I have a car that only just started doing this this morning. It was driving along fine but then started acting funny, when I put the clutch in and took out of gear I would need to double clutch to get back into a gear. It did this on all gears. Then it got worse and with the clutch in the car still moved in gear. Now I can't get into gear with the engine going at all and I need to start in gear. What could this be?

I hope you can understand the problem, you might need more info to answer it though, just let me know.

Sounds like a problem with the clutch.

I thought as much, would it be more likely a matter of adjustment or a new clutch?

Sounds exactly like the problem i struck in my race car yesterday,

leaking slave cylinder and running out of clutch fluid..

Just check the clutch fluid level and see where it is.

If it's low you need to top it up and bleed it and check for leaks.

I've found that the Master Cylinder is leaking into the car through where the pushrod goes. What should I do about this? Is the best thing to do get a new Master Cylinder or second hand? Where can I source this part? Revhead maybe?

Cheers guys, youve helped heaps

Master cylinders are reasonably cheap, depend on where you go, and the car, they go for $30 to a couple of hundred.
Daily driver: Toyota RunX/Toyota Caldina

Replace it, i had the same problem, get a new one, that way you dont have to worry about it happening again. There's a place called ABC on Barrys Point Road in Takapuna that should have something for you, nice and cheap too
