ae110 levin - wont give keys back

Hey people. Trying to sort something on my GF's car, its a ae110 levin auto.

It starts and runs fine, but when you switch it off, the ign wont turn back to "lock" so you cant pull the keys out. The key stops at acc and wont turn any further. Exactly the same as leaving it in gear, it wont let you turn the keys back to Lock.

Its definitely an electrical problem coz when i disconnect the battery it will let you turn it to lock and take the key out.

I've tried shaking the wheel, pushing the red button by the auto shift, selecting N instead of P. Nothing works. Im thinking it's something to do with the sensor from the auto that tells the ign the car is in P or N - where is this sensor? On the shifter itself or on the 'box?

Any ideas?

have you tried pushing the gear selector as far forward as you can push it.
sometimes the sensor/switch that lets you get the keys out gets faulty and you need to push abit harder on the selector once its in park.

try that..
