Yea I would agree with the dodgy relay, because you are able to turn the lights on without the key being in the ignition arent you?

isn't there a switch on the dash to keep the park lights on for when you want to park your car at night on the road? I know in my dad's car there is one which will keep only the rear right tail light on

yeh, i second that too.. is that only the park light is on?, not number plate lights or dash, right? that switch is on the left of the steering column. turn it off, then problem solve! :P

Its the steering column switch. Id put the last 4 bucks in my overdraft on it. Take the stem and switch off, and if your cheap, clean the brass switches with kerosene, and bend them back into place with a screwdriver until it works properly.

If your not cheap, buy a new one off a wrecker. Ive had this problem with 3 cars so far, fixed it by myself everytime with a bit of patience. But picka part is your friend.

Really? You'd loose your $4 then,

as AE85 and AE86 dont even have a parklight sw in the steering column.
In fact they dont even have a headlight sw there,
just a dip sw for HI and Low beam, nothing at all to do with park lights.

Either,
Park sw on dash as suggested,

OR,

Have you fitted a new stereo lately?

I'm not sure what was wrong with it in the end i think there may be something wrong with the park light switch in the dash.. i gave it a bit of a whack and they went off! Now i can take out the starter pack thingy.

okay i have a similar problem in my ae101, but my park lights only stay on when i turn my stereo head unit off.
My stereo & amp etc were all installed by a profesional installer, so surely they should know how to do a proper install shouldnt they???

any help much appreciated, cause leave it for more than 5 hours & its a flat battery

well i would but there outa business now & i've only just realised its happening (after having the stereo 4 2 years) since i only just started turning it off.

So in theory its only a mix up on the wiring for the head unit, so it should be fairly self explanatory if i try to rewire it?
Its not complicated buy the amp at all?
