3 1/2 years, about 100 runs down the strip, two turbos, three clutches, one gearbox, 20psi at times and it still passed a mechanics inspection when it was onsold 8)

Nice 8) *goes to garage and winds boost up *

The main problem behind 3S breakages seems to be lack of maintenence. Eg run bearings due to lack of oil

The 3S is right up there with the 16v 4A. Only the 16v 4A can take more of a beating without maintanence!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Do we need all these extra forums for every obscure varient we can think of? Doesn't toyspeed provide everything all in one location?

try

forums.corolla20vconversionswith16inchwheelsandorangepaint.co.nz

forums.forpeoplewhotalkshitaboutcarsandaretoosnobbytodoitontoyspeed.co.nz

I see where your coming from. I also think its sometimes good to break away into smaller communitites and use toyspeed as more of a central hub.

I suppose if there's enough demand etc for it, it will do well. If not, it wont.

I see it as being complimentary to more general forums like TS, but TBH I waste too much time reading forums as it is, I'm not sure if I need another one. haha.

Although TBH if I had an important tech question to ask, I'd ask it somewhere like here, or toymods, or other general toyota site.

There are many people that post here that dont necessarily have anything to do with 3S engines, but have a HUGE amount of relevant experience with a whole range of engines/problems etc.
It's often these people that answer my questions, or provide useful information, etc.

I understand that the intention is to have a tech reference forum where there is some moderation and editing of posts. This will hopefully lead to tech info with low percentage of spam/speculation and a higher percentage of facts.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

In all fairness, throwing a 3SFE in the bin is probably the best possible suggestion. :o

I think the forum's fairly redundant for the moment, it's just everyone from TS/mr2club/clubaw/etc posting on yet another forum.
If the forum didnt exist, the same posts/etc still would, just somewhere else.

'Same shit, different moderators' springs into my head.
(nothing against Graham and Nathan of course, just my thoughts on the matter)

In saying this, I wish them luck with the success of the forum.

Gotta say I do think its 'yet another forum'.

My 3SGE and previous 3SFE / 3SGTE have been well served by Toyspeed...
