Well we all know im a bit of a slack/lazy prick...
but ive been looking around for a spare open diff for my supra so that Icould lock it... because I wasnt really looking forward to driving a mildly modded 1jz with an open diff
well i finally got around to jacking up my supra to have a look at the diff thats already in it... and what do i see... a sticker on the back housing reading
[L.S.D.]
Twisted Evil mwahahahaha now im glad i jacked it up and checked b4 i brought another diff Very Happy Cool

if you figured u have a open diff i would imagine its been single spinning on you...so ur lsds proberly buggerd

what? you had to look at your diff to see if it had a sticker on it?

just $&#$% go full lock and plant the sucker, youll find out plenty quick if shes lsd or not

I would recommend just replacing the shim with another factory thickness one if the car is solely for the road, and the occasional track day. All the drift Nissans I've seen and owned that have a thicker shim or 2 shims added to the LSD have essentially been lockers, not the most suitable for road, and probably illegal. Just a thought.

lol should have mentioned, this is just a shell that i purchased with no motor or box for a long term project, since time of purchase it has just sat while i look for parts. Ive tried not to look too closely at my supra as the more time i spend htinking about it the more i want to jump in and start, which i havnt wanted to do untill I have all of the parts needed.
and yes thats one of my favourite sayings "assuption is the mother of all f*uck ups" :twisted:

Toyota LSDs are clutch pack items, unlike the nissan viscous units,
from memory they can be rebuilt to several levels of LDS
