Burnout Comp Baypark, Tauranga 19/08/06

Postby YeMs » Sun Aug 13, 2006 6:11 pm

hey dudes and dudettes. theres a skid comp on next weekend (the 19th). should b good, i believe its $10 spectator fee, $30 entry fee for you and a car. skids start at 12 so bring some rubber and leave it there ;). theres always a good turnout of cars and people so will b a good afternoon of fun. also there are a few stalls, such as etchellz race parts, mad sounds etc and a small car show area.

brought to you by the simply sideways crew.

yeh the pad is huge. heaps of tiered seating, a show area with some tidy cars, food and car parts stalls.. and a whole heap of smoke.

what are the legal requirements for running one of these?

ambo's / fire have to be on standby? or just some people with fire extinguishers etc there? and I suppose it can't be too close to any public roads so that people can still see where their driving.

to be quite honest i dont know the indepth details. but we do have a fire..man on site, and he gives us a crash course on if theres a fire what to do etc. but i mean, its run so smoothely we havent really had many issues. the cars are given a safety check b4 the event. we also have a DB metre, and if it gets to loud we sound the horn and they have to leave the pad. we have reasonable sound protection being behind a grandstand and all.

yeh i get what ur saying. i guess there would b certain factors involved. but by the time the smoke has passed around/over the stadium its really thinned out so doesnt really affect traffic. u will however have huge problems trying to get your local pain in the ass/complain about every thing/grey haired old biddys to see eye to eye with you. as far as they are concerned any noise is bad noise.

there is this old dude that lives in otumoetai and he rings the bluechip office and says he can hear the tyres skidding from his place.. lol.. like 20/30ks away

is there much point entering with a single spinner? are locked diffs allowed in comps etc?

half of the cars i've seen at burnout comps have locked diffs. all the old starlets and corollas etc. that's where the fun is
chicken fillet and bacon with everything except onion and bbq, ranch and southwest sauces

id just like to personally thank all the ladies and fellas that turned up in support. it was a huge meet with some awesome machines on show doin what they do best. i feel sorry for the poor fella in the rx2 who totalled the rear end of it.. but i guess u know the risks wen u enter, such a shame to see such a fine piece of work damaged like that.

all in all was a huge succes, lots of rubber left on the pad. and for all who dont kno, i was 'craig david' beside the dj on the rear trailer. shame..

oh yeh and huge credit to the dudes in the blue evo5 and red st205 GT4 swinging the mad helli's. very impressive.

haha i think it will take abit more than no time. swing a full O sideways into a barrier. looks like hes twisted the whole rear end of the car. smashed in the drivers side rear gaurd, popped the boot out, bent the rear bumper.. who knows wat else. hit the water barrier bloody hard. we watched the video over about 6 times. like on the simpsons.. we could almost pinpoint wen his heart broke.

I'm reminded of Dragmasters, with the V (I think?) Cef' which tried to to a burnout on the burnout pad. Lots of smoke, but the wheels weren't spinning... Hehe
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
