Recaro Dealer

Postby Silent Knight » Mon Aug 14, 2006 9:25 am

I was wondering if anyone knows of a Recaro dealer here in Auckland or where else would I go to 'acquire' a set of Recaro rails for a Toyota and specifically a Soarer?

Thanks!

Engineer? Metal fab place? It's easy enough to make an adaptor up as well.

I've never come across any aftermarket rails designed to specifically suit a given model of car.

I've tried them Darryn.
They only stock universal Recaro Rails... nothing Toyota specific.

Do I need to take it to like a certified person somewhere if I need to just get my mounts modified for it if I want to certify them later on?

Or is it just judged on how secure they are?

Anybody can do it, assuming theyre not idiots. When certed they will just check the fabrication by eye, no probs. What do you need done exactly? and when?

If you adapt to the current rails you will not require a cert for the seats, its when you start tampering with the mounts into the actual chassis of the vehicle is where it gets interesting.

Mine are home made from 6mm aluminium, if you use alloy make sure you specify thick stuff, and use high tensile bolts to bolt it all together.

So if I just take the rails off of my OE seats and weld them on to the new seats (With some modification where needed) it should work fine even for certification purposes?

Wicked, now since Simon is over in Australia at the moment who wants to do some welding for me? :P

Che che.

I'm picking the seats up next weekend and I'm away the weekend after that so preferably next weekend if at all possible.

Otherwise any other weekend once I get back would be fine if you guys have a quick free spot to help out. 8)

I don't know part numbers or anything. I'm getting a set of Recaro seats without rails. They are going in to a Z30 Soarer which takes the same rails as a JZA80 Supra...
