Gearboxes are VERY strong, the corona 4 speed is commonly used here and in oz in some very fast cars. For example, Tony Markovina (HVATOS Drag RX3) was pulling wheelstands and running 10's on an essentially stock 4 Speed corona box, and the gearbox still lives to tell the tale (now replaced by a G-Force)

So theyre VERY strong in that department.

Edit: It is a W40

what engine does it have in it?

coronas at the least have t50's and 10 bolt t-series diffs (same strength as ae86)

so yeah you can do endless burnouts and it will handle it piece of piss, you will be hard pressed to kill the driveline in a standard old rwd corona

it was the top of the line in its day. 4 wheel discs , 1.8 efi , 5 speed, poo brown, 8 track player. This things mint.

So if i were to sell it the gear box could be worth up to $500 by its self?

chances are, the gearbox is a T-50 and worth jack all. couple of hundy, unless it's a 22-spline and it is worth a wee bit more.

Yeah worth Jack-all so give it to me :D

Thinks it probably won't even fit my corona but its too cold to be looking under cars at your gearbox.

1980 Corona's with 4 wheel disc are usually pretty rare. Get all the details off the chassis plate and post them up. I'd be picking its a TT132 if it's 1.8 efi. Could even have a W55 in it if its a jap import. Does it have solid rear axle or IRS?

.

Interest will depend on the model of the parts. Find out all the info you can then throw a for sale thread up in that section once you know.
