for an '88 Nissan Cefiro Turbo with...
Heavy duty clutch
5spd manual conversion
SSQ bov
chipped gtst ecu
lsd

goes pretty hard needs wider tyres on the rear though if ya give it death very little traction until 3rd... :lol:, needs cert for the gearbox mount so is going for that asap, has been though a pre cert check and was told it was fine so yeh pretty happy :twisted:

I would but I just want it on the road cos i need a car, will get all the stuff tht'l need cert together and do it all one week/weekend then get cert again, not the most cost effective but $&#$% it i wanna play with my new toy :twisted:

why does it need acert for the gearbox conversion when all the parts are available from factory?? get the proper crossmember and you 'should' be sweet.

A chipped ecu does NOT need a cert :?
you will only need a cert for the manual conversion if the cross member is modified.....if it it, you should put in a s13 one, way cheaper than getting a cert for it

For turbo cars it does, its in the WoF manual.

don't know if many are aware of this, but in NZ atleast, there are a few conditions on the declining of insurance claims, the biggy, using this one as an example...is that if they are going to decline on the fact that the car was chipped, then the chip has to be a direct cause of the accident. if it wasn't a direct cause, then the claim should still stand... good luck trying to prove anything to an insurance company whose job it is to decline insurance to people like us though.

More often than not, they'll pay out the claim, but then refuse to cover you further as you didn't declare all modifications.

Also, most policies now when you apply ask if you've been refused insurance before.

Sure its illegal, but in reality, is an insurance inspector going to pull the ECU out of every car, just to check if its been chipped...dont think so???

And in most cases of Nissans they just reprogram the fuel map from the ECU, modify it, burn it to an EPROM and reinstall it back into the ECU.

OK sorry I was wrong there, I was not aware of that. I've never had a problem with my car failing a WOF because of no cert for it being chipped, nor have any people I know that have chipped ECU's.
Whos going to check anyway? It's not like you can tell..

Do you know who chipped the ecu? and whats been done to it?

Depends entirely how you want to look at it. The chip contributes to extra power which in turn can contribute to pretty much anything
