Turn on internal amp?
Faulty internal amp...
Or maybe you did not wire speakers properly (one of the wires either grounded or 12v)...

i checked all my speaker wiring with another head unit, and they all run fine. as far as i can tell, its a head unit thing...

Internal amp, how do i check that?

I'm not sure about pioneer, but my alpine has option to switch on/off internal amplifier (incase you are using only RCAs)... somewhere in setup option..

Not likely, as the speakers run fine when connected to another head unit ( still in my car, with the same wiring )

Someone suggested plugging things into the rca outputs, to see if they were sending out any sounds, so i just tried that today, and they are.. so i guess that points at an internal amp fault? or do the preouts run on the same amp as the regular outputs?

Did you test the speakers as you were connecting them?

I would suggest removing the hu, and trying the speakers one by one. My money's on either a blown internal amp (unlikely) or as pyro says, one speaker has a wire earthing - possibly happened while pushing unit back into it's slot during installation.

yep, every speaker is fine, tested with other head units.. also put my head unit in other cars, same problem.

Is it worth trying to get the head unit fixed, or better off buying another?

you could try replacing tis fuse, although I doubt it will help otherwise just buy another one. They cost like 3/4 of the RRP to get fixed usually

depending on if it is stil under warretny or not. If its under warrenty then go get it checked out.

At least get a quote to get it checked out.. you'll know for certain then.

Sounds like what happened to my old DEHP3550MP, wouldnt play sound at all through the channels. Ended up being a blown internal amp, it wasnt covered by the warranty and ended up costing me $160 to fix.

Yeah, what I've seen happen before, is pushing the new h/u into place shorts out a speaker wire, and more often than not fries the output ic... Pioneer ones dont seem to be very tolerant of that.
Definately not covered under warranty either

Pioneers are really badfor being a bit pussy if your a n00b. I blew my one up by plugging the RCA's in when it was going. Stupid thing to do i know. but every other headunit ive had (sony, philips etc) had no problems with it. Bout $160 to fix that fault :?
