Lexus V8 ECU...

does anyone know of someone running a lexus v8 with out an ecu?
ive been told of a guy in matamata that has left out the ecu on his conversion.
im not very clued up on the ecu,etc. info will be great.

If its still fuel injected it will need an ecu of some form, either factory or after market. This guy in matamata may not be running a computer because he may have converted it to a carbureted setup which doesnt require an ecu.

Yeah, a carg conversion does not need an ecu for Fuel, but you still need something to create spark and timing as they dont have no mechanical advance in the so called distributors.

know of any places a can get my hands on a carby/pack for a lexus?

The carb conversion is very popular with the stock car guys. I'd check with someone who has a stock car and they will fill you in.
Also, try Kelford Cams: they do some stuff for the 1UZ too.
