Caldina "Knocking noise"

Postby mikeygtt » Sat Aug 19, 2006 12:47 am

Has any one had a knocking noise come from under the dash at all :?:
The noise is like tapping your nuckles on the plastic covers. happens at slow speeds. It has happend at random times but luckely my machanic was in the car yesterday when it started again :?: then stoped. he had a super thougher check of the drive line and suspension but to no avail  before i rip the dash to bits on sunday any ideas would be appreciated.

My mate has had a similar knocking noise, comes and goes randomly. We have no idea what it is.

It's quite loud and very worring but hardly ever happens, would be very intersted to find out what it is .

Would these be a WOF issue as i just got one friday. might have to get this checked again by some one else?

Happens in a straight line and corners but only low speed ie; taking off/slowing down, but very random

I have just developed the same thing in my car ><

very annoying... i have a suspicion that it may be the bottom plastic engine guard thing, its sort of lose.. but I'm not convinced that it would be making the noise I'm hearing.

tis weird because it only started doing it when i put my new wheel nuts on :|

also look under your seats and stuff for stuff rolling around lol, my dad went crazy trying to look for a click in his car, ended up being a torch under his seat..

When we first got our BZT wagon it has a clunk every time you changed direction.
After checking all of the suspension,

it turned out that the two bolts that hold the strut brace to the body in the centre were tight, but not tight enough, and when the load cam on it slipped about 1mm each way with the spacing of the bolts thru the holes.

Mike is it a wodden type of a knocing sound at all? By that I mean quite a solid thud sound.

This type of sound started off in my Corona in the same way you state, turns out its the front right shock that needs replacing.

Just somethign else to think about

That sounds exactly like my mates, He said the noise stopped when he put the clutch in, and came back when he let it out.

Its got me stumped, but since it hasn't made the noise in over 2 months it probably isn't THAT serious.

Found out 1 of the engine mount bolts was not put back in proper after the cambelt was done  could be the culprit. Also tightend the lower arm bolts on the driver side. No noise for a while now (fingers crossed)

Ive got some strange knocking noises in my GTZ at the moment, came here to ask about it.

Its fairly consistent noise, but quite obvious only from the front, whenever Im driving it, it just kinda knocks when moving especially over bumps/

Im thinking either my CV's are getting worn or front shocks?!

Man I really hope my superstut suspension is alright....

Just make sure all the bolts are tight around the struts and towers. Could be a broken engine mount. CVs are more a clicking when turning sound when stuffed
