You'll probably have to hack SOMETHING to do the conversion :D Good on ya for doing it without mutating the tunnel, Next stop... the firewall...

Hey silent knight, u sure you had the shifter around the right way? cause if you didn't i could see how you could bash your knuckles.

Yes it was all done properly. :wink:
I didn't have a rear shifter gearbox which caused my problems...

Umm... simple hundy for the carpet...

As for the steering rack, we'll you better be quick because the cars getting either taken away if somebody wants to take it, or dumped this weekend, has to be gone by friday... :\

I can't remember whether I had the front shifter box or the mid shifter. Dave might remember?

I had to cut and fold a piece of the inside of the console for the shifter to fit through.

You can see the piece between the two front bolts is cut and folded forward in the above picture. When I used gear 1/3/5 the shift knob would sit about 2CM away from my H/U. Made it hard to change CDs whilst cruizing in 5th. :P

Had to take it out of 5th and coast for a couple of minutes everytime I got bored with a CD.

Hahaha i know the feeling of not being able to change CDs :D
I also can't put the car into reverse when the handbrake is on, heel toweing reverse hillstarts is a pain in the ass!

Yours must have been a front shifter position and mine must be a mid, though the chunk you took out looks suspiciously the same size as mine. Did they come with differant shaped shifters? Eg. differant dog legs in them?

Incorrect.
Rear shifter is what you want for a MK3...

Rear-Rear shifter will result in you cutting bits out of the back end of the hole (this is the box I'm getting for my soarer...)

Front shifter would probably be un-useable

mid shifter you have to hax the front part of the hole and very difficult to put your console back on and use stereo and even reach the gear shifter if you have your seat right back...

Next time i have my C's short shifter in my hand I'll take a picture just for you to show a W58 that came out in a MK3 1GTT dont need any mods in the stick area to fit into another MK3 :roll:

Yes Image 5 in the link is the correct shifter position, however Image 5 in the link is the third from the left in Image 6 on said link, therefore not the most rear shifter available.
