Which Version to go for.

Postby JZZ31 » Thu Aug 31, 2006 8:32 pm

Hi all,

New member here. Im considering buying a new car soon, a Toyota Soarer to be precise Im only interested it the 3L model with the 2jzge engine. Not interested in the V8 nor TT as this will be my daily driver.

From looking around I found two versions to go for. The pre mid year 1996 models which feature the non vvti and the post mid 1996 facelift models with vvti. So my question is which ones the better overall model to go for, does the vvti have much better advantage over the non vvti?

From reading a few other sites the vvti sounds better on paper but I find in the visual area the original soarer bumpers to be nicer than the newer bumpers so Im stightly leaning towards the pre mid 1996 models especially since they are usually cheaper than the newer models.

All Im needing is a bit more advice on which direction to go.

Thanks guys.

I'd hardly call that not being able to spell. I simply miss typed the word. :P

Now being dumb enough to let some kid steal your lunch out of your own hands... I don't unfortunately have anything to describe what I'm thinking at the moment.

I'd go later model

the facelift bumper and taillights arn't my favorite either, but they're not that bad and its far easier to whack the early bumper and taillights in a late model, low km soarer than it would be to change the engine in an older one to VVTI

(well maybe not for a mechanic, but if you're paying for the work then the panels would be easier)
