Sitting Full Licence

Postby eritate » Thu Sep 07, 2006 12:43 pm

Hey guys (dunno if this is in the right thread or not)

Im sitting my Full Licence next week on the 13th of sep :)

Im curious as to what happens

Ive got the outlining paper here from LTSA and also been told by a few mates of what goes on.

What are your guys experiences and tips ?

Also with the hazard identfication.... Do you have to say everything while your driving or does the tester make you pull over and repeat everything you saw?

Is there much open road driving eg overtaking etc?

Cheers a lot

Mike

they did both for me, twice while driving, once for the recall

i suppose if someone was driving well under the limit you could overtake them. also remember when hitting the open road, that you need to accelerate cleanly quickly, i got warned for reachin 80kph to slowly!

take a look in the back of the road code, that should have some answers  . It's mainly just making sure you are a confident and safe driver and alot of it is pointing out hazards.

Just make sure you don't do hand brake turn. I failed my 1st test cos of that. :?

On 100km/h zone, there is road work and 30km/h sign is up for a few K's and I got a lot of angry look from many other drivers which pass me when I'm doing 40km/h in 30km/h zone... :?

A lot will depend on the licensing officer you get, as to what they have you do & what they leave out.

As an example, when I sat my full licence we basically followed the same / similar route to that when doing the restricted with a few more things added in. Just remember the “basics” i.e coming to a COMPLETE stop at stop signs etc and it should be fine

As for what gear you are in while driving around, that is totally up to you, just make sure you don’t go over the allowed speed limit or take a “half chance” gap in traffic.

On the identifying hazards, all mine where asked to be noted from when the instructor / licensing office said “start” till he then said “stop”, we then pulled over and I identified them to him, don’t get too hung up on trying to remember everything, get the obvious ones & ya should be sweet, sometimes they will even give you hints to help.

And no they don’t pop questions from the road code while driving as you should already know the rules, this is about applying those rules to a practical situation, hence the practical test.

Just take it as another drive on any other day, be confident in what you are doing & you’ll fly through it

Just be a good driver and obey all the law, always take notice around you when you drive, look at the mirrors alot expecially the rear view mirror. indicate atleast 3 sec before you need to turn and turn it off after 3 sec if the thing still on etc.
Then you should pass with flying colour! good luck and don't crash!

If you like speeding through road works then dont complain when they have to rip the seal up again and again. the main point about going slow when new chipseal is down is for it to be bedded in.

And rememebr - the're reflective jackets, not bullet proof vests :)

If you can drive to the letter of the law and can show the instructor that you're aware of what is going on around you, then you will have no issues passing the test.
