Megameet 2006 - 'Naki

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Fri Sep 08, 2006 7:23 pm

ok well Megameet is still happening!!

labour weekend 20-23rd October 2006
in the marvellous Taranaki

Image

this is only about 5 weeks away!!

i am just in the process of confirming the accomodation
we have a couple of options - tent sites or cabbin type stuff

i kinda need some feedback to how many of what we need

i want to keep costs down of course, and wont be more than $30/night (fingers crossed) tents will obviously be cheaper

so far i have planned:

treasure hunt
drinking
cruise - around the mountain
full contact indoor speedway (will confirm costs later)
beach
mountain
drinking
grasskahna (awating confirmation of paddock - may be a donation required)
spirited drive session
friday night - maybe head along to the local 'drag strip' (more of a hang out than drags these days)

anything else? any other ideas?

of course PRS radios will be a great tool to have

deposits will be required for accomodation soon

Naki, Naki, Naki, Naki!
I plan to be there!
We could visit all the places that Tom Cruise went to! Not!
Visit the Motonui SynFuel plant (mothballed now?) Lots of tarmac there! I wonder if that would be the go?
Cruise up and around the mountain.

Doesn't a toyspeed member Farmer_dave have/manage a farm somewhere around the Taranaki area?
Maybe he has a paddock?

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

yeah tried him ages ago, but his boss wouldnt be to happy with us ripping up good pasture!

this week for work i was actually on the farm where most of the last samurai battle scenes were filmed (random usless info)

and i worked at Methanex for 3 months a few years ago actually (more random info) but its still all industrial area no access bla bla, plus theres more oil and gas stuff going on close by

i have got a paddock lined up, but its all the way round Okato ways, and hasnt been confirmed 100%
that seems to be the problem at the moment - farmers dont want good paddocks being wrecked, when they are just recovering from winter

also theres possibly the NP Rodders street drags on, usually on the sunday. havent confirmed this as of yet

That's cheap.

There's some people who spend upwards of 400$ easy on petrol for a weekend like that. I know the Soarer costs that much easy. :P

Palmy is ~3hrs each way
i think Ngaere did it in her curren on about $50-60 return when we went down for trackday

Hamiltron is ~3hrs each way
allow for a bit more for mt messenger etc

Auckland is ~4hrs (if you take the tron bypass, otherwise if you convoy thru the tron its about ~4.5hrs

Welly is about ~4hrs each way
