Should New Zealand bring back the death sentance?

Postby Adamal » Fri Sep 08, 2006 8:19 pm

In the past few weeks, there have been so many murders and vicious attacks.

It got me wondering, should we bring back the death sentance? Its the ultimate detterant against people committing such murders. People just don't seem to understand the value of the human life anymore.

The guy who killed that 17 year old kid said that he already had one murder charge and that he didn't care if he got another. Maybe he would if the death sentance existed.

I think most of this shit could be avoided if it was brought back.

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

While I'm in favour of the death sentence, there would be so many appeals for anyone sentenced to death, they'd probably die of natural causes first 8O Damn hippies

I don't believe in the death sentence, but the justice system seriously needs to harden up and give crims what they deserve.
The kid who dropped the rock onto Chris Curries head has been sentenced, he is getting FOUR YEARS. For manslaughter. 8O He will be out by the time he is 17, still with time to get on life, wasting our precious oxygen.

Murder and manslaughter are different though.

Things like the guy being hit by the car and dragged for 2km is considered murder. It was pre-meditated with intent to kill.

Stupid as it seems, the kid who dropped the rock wasn't really intending to kill, just to cause damage to a car or cause some chaos.

What about for people who are guilty without reasonable doubt, such as that Black Power member who killed that 17 year old? Or the guy in Christchurch who killed that 24 year old mother?

Actually he's up for parole this December.
Another point in case where our penalty system has failed us. And Helen just reduced all minimum parole periods as our prisons are too full!

Shacle them...work them...till they die...
That way they are providing $$$ in their work...and it offsets the cost of keeping them alive.
It also means if they are found not quilty they can go free, rather than mistakes been made.
