How do i set up 7mge timing?

Postby UTERUS » Sun Sep 24, 2006 12:42 pm

The 7mge in my mark2 had a blown headgasket so i have replaced it and torqued it down.

The problem i have now is aligning the cambelt and distributor up.

The crank pulley has a mark on it and the mark is pointing at 10 (degrees before/after tdc?)

The marks on the cams are pointing straight up to their (tdc?) marks aswell.

I can't verify that the distributor hasn't been played with while it was out.

The cambelt has lined up in exactly the same place on the cams, i know this because i drew a line on it that lines up with the timing mark on the cams.

What should i do next?

Cheers,
Simon

Try this page for the mechanical timing (as well as a few past it):

Then for the distributor timing, go here:

You may want to bookmark the site for future reference.
