any tips and info on making power? simple mods

if you want RELIABLE safe HP increases you need to be able to alter the timing and/or fuel delivery.
Internally the engine is reasonably strong and will handle a larger turbo and therefore more HP, but you NEED tunability.

As per usual Intake and Exhust would be the best place to start.This should free things up.Then get some kind of boost control, electronic would be the best.But just something that you can use to make sure it doesn't overboost.
If you want to go much furthur you'll need to let us know your budget ;)

AFAIK factory boost is like 14 psi, 17-18psi on 96 pump gas = melted pistons

Yea they run just under 1bar factory boost.

i have the following mods already:

1. front mount intercooler
2. Boost controller
3. 3 inch downpipe, 2 1/2 inch to where the bend near the back(right at the back wheel) is 3 inch into the drum.
4. fuel pressure up mod
5. Tubular Exhaust manifold with stock turbo
