Suggestions for alarm system and install...

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Thu Mar 02, 2006 9:09 am

Yo,

Im looking at getting an alarm installed into the ae92 due to the amount of money that has and will still be spent on it.

Last alarm I had installed was an AVS one and it was done by mag and Turbo. After having to pull my dash apart on the other car for a heater leak, I found that the 'installer' had done a really half arse job.

Can anyone suggest a good alarm system and also who to get it installed by?

Dynatron is supposed to be good right?

Pies, where did you get your bling pager type one?

EDIT: changed post a bit since someone works there! not the same installer though (foot in mouth... )

Star something security beside the Caltex petrol station in Newtown are Dynatron agents, and have done various alarm stuff on the work 4wd. Although we had to upgrade the alarm to get rid of the incredibly frustrating auto immobilise "feature".

I've had two alarms put in by Abtec (ad from T&E many moons ago), and they did a very good job.

edit to change company name due to faulty memory

Dynatron are good and are modular, so you can add on all sorts of extra features. D7600's are good value for money atm

I had mine installed by Chris (meeshelly on this forum or Slickles on sideways) as a bit of a perk and his install skills are first rate. (used to work for the car stereo company installing alarms)

If it was me, i'd buy the alarm unit and all the bits you want, and flick him a pm and see if he'll do the install for you.

Second what that man said. Had one installed in the Corona and have never had a problem with it, very good value for money, once the Capri & KE are back on the road both will be having a Dynatron tucked away in them.

Thanks guys, had a quick look on tardme and it looks like the D7600 is about $300 without install and the D7800 is $329.

Sounds good to me, just depends how much install will be.

If you want an A grade install, and also want the dynatron warranty, go visit 'me boy' Ashley Audio in Author St (one way st. down by the basin / te-aro)

Background, Ian is qualified and is the rapair agent for almost all the car audio suppliers in nz. Phil is also qualified the same (Phil does repairs 90% of the time)

Who else in Wellington has the understanding or the ability to understand their products like these fellas?

Ditto. Iain & Phil will do the best install in WGN. Iain's a mate so course I would say that :)
But I also think he's the most qualified in WGN.

Take a look Here

I am crossing fingers I can have the KE ack on the road in 3 weeks time and am currently deciding exactly the same i.e. do I go 7600 or 7800, will probably go 7600 with paging option out to my mobile phone and tilt sensors

Yea I think that is the same I was looking at getting. I still will and have had a good offer to get it installed. 8)

But it has to wait until cert is done. Haven't decided whether to do this before or after Link install.

Damn money.

Nothing... lol

Got a LinkPlus ECU and a cert... car goes in for wof tomorrow so once its legal will probably go for a dynatron 7600 or similar. Unfortunately the guy who offered to do the install has had his tools stolen :? So will not happen any time soon.

Anything less than $500 (normal prices) seems to be a waste of time.
