Power steering in ke70?

Postby 4age_rage » Mon Sep 18, 2006 12:02 pm

Ohk, I'm currently planning a 4age conversion in a ke70 sedan and I was curious as to whether I can use an ae86 steering rack and plumb up all power steering lines etc togive the DX power steering

you will need a P/S crossmember, as the rack mounts for power steer are much bigger.

My main concern is whether the steering arms etc will bolt up to the rest of the DX's suspension. Anyone know?

yes they will

ae86 has almost exactly the same chasis/suspension as ke70 (as far as bolt in)

i just did this to my ae70. i had p/s from an ae85, i had to change the lines because the pump mounts on the opposite side of where the 3au one does (but you shouldnt have this problem if its from an ae86). i took them to hydraquip they did it for $90(a bit expensive but a job well done)
my steering colomn was too short so just took it to an engineer $20 later it fits. also i had to cut the firewall a little bit because of the new angle the colomn sits on. and the steering wheel now sits a tiny bit to the left.

harder, but can be done

need to get an engineer to weld mounts for the rack onto the ke30 crossmember

my flatmates 30 has rack and pinion steering in it, was a fairly easy conversion
