Idea's of value of my ae86

Postby ~SlideWays~ » Thu Sep 28, 2006 4:04 pm

Thinking of selling and getting something different, had it for 5 years (lost track..). Awesome fun car and don't see one every 5 minutes or even month down here in wgtn.

Info off the top of my head.
- 1983 Trueno ae86
- Factory Digital Dash
- Factory interior in very good condition for age (23years!)
- 4agze late model conversion done professionally by Total Performance (and wired by NZ_AE86)
- vr4 fmic
- Autogauge boost gauge pillar mounted.
- running 10.5psi, would be great to put a 14psi pulley on! (or even turbo since its all there).
- honda twin core radiator
- w55 gearbox (beautiful gear changes 8) ) - niteparts bellhousing
- 15x7 superlites
- 195/50 Direzza's near new
- Brand new brake disk's and pads all round.
- upgraded suspension: kyb's and 'dunno' springs (total performance), handles great (took it up rimutaka's every chance I could).
- pioneer mosfet cd jobbie with 6x9's in newly made parcel shelf (leather look vinyl), 6" ish fronts and tweeter.
- all cert'd
- reliable as a factory car (because I've gone through all of the niggly and not so niggly problems over the years  )
- Compression test shows 175psi on all 4.
- plenty more to list but have gone blank...

Only problem with it is that the paint job needs re-doing since it wasn't prepped right. I was planning to get a Vertex front bumper for more airflow and they look good. Then repaint it. But other things always come up.

Reluctant to sell but something has to go as I've bought a house and I have another project. By no means am I desperate to sell, especially since know I will regret it but good things must come to an end.

Please not arguements or flaming.

Pics after work...or find my profile lol.

EDIT: still at work but meh.

- speedo reads perfectly after finding the perfect combo of gearbox etc.
- rev counter is acturate, used mitsi tacho interface.
- strut brace

lol it has been a project for the last 5yrs, there's barely anything on the car which hasn't been modified, upgrade or renewed

I have plans for the smelly fwd, which involve stripping and caging. (couldn't bring myself to do it to the ae86).

Besides with "grip" racing there's no need for rwd to be fast.

buy a tow car that also has the potential to be amusing  then when it comes time to trailer the ae92 you're all set

why not trademe it at a reserve you wouldnt expect anyone to ever pay , and see if anyone bites? theres some real special people out there who have absolutely no idea and will shell out for a trend car like an 86

If you dont want over-powered chronic understeer in the corners, then yes you do, or 4WD.

Hmmm looks like I'll have to keep it for a bit longer, maybe turbo it for a bit of fun.

I'd love an Evo but the insurance cost will probably make it a bit of a liability anyway. c**t car theives ruining it for everyone...

I won't sell it unless Im offered a decent amount anyway.

youd love and evo? what are you? a chinese guy??

i have driven heaps of them(up to evo 5's) and they just dont do it for me.. they dont feel like they handle exceptionally well, and the power is pretty mediocre compared with the image they portray...

and yes i have been for rides in 245kw ones and that was cool.... but not 245kw worth of cool

ill never understand why people love them so much, especially if they have an opertunity to compare them with other "preformance cars"

I had an EVO 1 RS about 8 years ago,

Sold it to pay for a house,

Would buy another when funds allow.
They are great cars, practical functional, and plenty fast enough for raod use.

Why would you not want one?

lol no im not chinese, good food though.

I want to try something different to what I've got, I've had a low power great handle small car, its was great, got a decent powered light rwd and its great fun, got a high ish power fwd turbo and thats great fun... so can't see why not try an EVO for 4wd.

To me they are the best 4wd 2L turbo which is easily obtainable. They've proven to be a good all rounder in motorsport as well. I'd only use it as a fun road car though as its too expensive and complicated to be thrashed on a track... hence my cheap simple gtz turbo.

Each to their own mate, but what "performance cars" are you talking about?
