4agte gear box

in my corolla i am still running the standed 5 speed fwd gear box is anyone else running the same ?? iv installed a trd 1.5 way lsd i just got to thinking what sort of hp can these bad boys handle im not completely sure as to the horse power i will achive as a tune has yet to be comepleted

250hp is figures iv heard

but i think its more on how u drive it

i reckon itll be fine. my aw11 s/c has the c series box and is fine
a previous owner claims 5000 rpm launches at the drags....

think the main issues with them is syncros and open diffs getting alot of play in them, so the lsd should keep it happy anyway

pulling out the carpet and polishing it super shiny doesnt mean its going to be any less load on the motor/box tho Revvy :P

yeah it will!! less weight and wind resistance = less load on drive train :P

Well given the starlet c52 which is nearly the same will handle close to 400hp wheels IF its in good condition you should be ok. They synchros do shit out, but a freshly built box should last for ages and they are not that hard to build. There are a couple of EP82's in oz pumping out close to 400hp with stock boxes built with clutch type lsd's.

I give my turbo 4age death with a c52, its a pure race car so its always driven hard.

Syncos are sweet as, Just use good oil and warm up the box before you start shifting hard.

Best part about them is they are around $200 to replace anyway so no biggie if you destroy it

cheers guys sounds like it will be mint in my car it only weighs 900 kg with me in it so not to much load haha
