3K with a partially blown head gasket and slightly rooted clutch in my KE20 towed my Levin home in Dunedin including up High Street (far from flat)

That looks photoshopped to me! :P

My old 1800cc carb'd Galant (all 60kW of fury) towed a 4WD Cordia on a dual axle trailer from Helensville to Hamilton (about 160km) juuust fine... although on a couple hills I had to change down to first gear haha.

Don't lie Warwick, its got a 3S conversion, hasn't it? ;)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

The photo must have been an action shot - wall of death style. He was going so fast it still stuck on the vertical bits :D

I was gonna say Warwick, the difference in your car was really noticeable. Even just driving around it had much better low end than every other silvertop I've ever been in.

Pfff, I towed my MR2 in a fully enclosed trailer with the wagon, no faster than 50k as the total weight of the car and trailer would have been damn near double that of the wagon
I've also towed an S13 Silvia from Titahi Bay to Palmy on an A frame, pretty easily too.

My 20v struggles with Ngaranga (sp?) in top gear, they just dont seem to have the torque compared to my Ae92 smallport redtop which seem to love going up there.

Basically I'm loosing speed in 4th or 5th in the Levin, Maybe its my fat ass haha

I remember being really impressed with Jimmy / Loudtoy's old silvertop 20v in terms of torque - every other 20v I've driven have been flat as a pancake down low. I can't say I'd call it outright torquey, but it was certainly torquey for a 1.6l motor. But there was something not right with that car... maybe Toyota got generous and actually gave the odd 20v the torque and power claims they made for it
