Running in a rebuilt 4AGE 20V

Hey all, need your opinions (once again )

I've just finished rebuilding my 20V 4age (new rings, bearings, seals etc.) and it still starts and run!!! (after much procrastination)

But now, i wanna know peoples opinions on how to run it in to prolong the life of my new and rather expensive parts.

I've read an article where the guy says i should flog the crap out of it, but that would
1. feel wrong
2. probably break something in all logic
3. feels REALLY wrong

So yeah, if anyone and everyone could post an opinion it would be greatly appreciated

don't flog the crap out of it, just run it in hard

DO NOT treat it nicely, you will only cause the rings to not seal properly

just make sure you warm it up,

run it through the rev range, never labour the engine with not enough revs

take it for a nice long open road drive, and use lots of full open accelerator, this will give it full vaccum helping to press the rings against the combustion chamber

if you treat it too nicely, it will be crap, simple as that

you don't need to rev the shit out of it or anything, just do not treat it like a nanna would

do u know how these engines react to back pressure?

i ave a 2 3/4" exhaust all the way through with 2 chambered resonators and a stupid shiney muffler (off tard me) at the back with a silencer that can be taken in and out.

before the rebuild it would have some issues starting cold without the silencer in. but if run with it in for too long it would start having issues too.

would it be alright to run it without the silencer in? as i would imagine it would have 6/10ths of $&#$% all back pressure without the silencer in because of the lack of actual mufflers.

dono but I found my scilencer was causing it to detonate so... better with it out if ur not gona get a ticket

Those starting issues could also have been related to you having sfa oil etc..

Mechanic told me to start the car, dont let it rev below 1500rpm, let the oil warm up to operating temp, drive down the street in second, speed up to around 3- 3.5 grand, slow back down foot right off the gas, do that a few times. Check there are no oil leaks etc. Take it for a good drive 30kms or so, no labouring the engine at all, but not revving the shit out of either, between 2.5 and 4.5 grand would be a good range.

Change the oil and filter and drive it for around 500kms, using plenty of wide open throttle, but not revving too excessively. change the oil again. Go nuts.

Run it in by taking it for a drive through some windy roads giving it a proper work out threw the rev range. When driving in traffic avoid sitting in the same gear or letting it idle below 1 1/2 K. I personally drive like this for at least 500kms + Before changing the oil and filter . Other people will have different views on how long you should run it in for

lol, yea, its a wee bit TOO loud with out it and i don't think it has enough balls nor do i rev it high enough to worry about detonating

Holy crap thats a massive exhaust system for a 20v! Really, 2 1/4" would be the max I'd go with one. It'd probably run better with the silencer in it!

lol, true, i always thought it was rather big. how much would it cost to get a full exhaust done (and i dont want the Toyota fart that 20V's are famous for, thats why i have 2 HUGE bullet resonators)

2 1/4 is more than enough, infact 2 1/4 is optimum for most 4age's

be upwards of $300 for a full system, depending on where you go

dont have the stock one. i bought it as it is now, but it didnt have any mufflers or resonators.

just the chrome 4" RPS at the back. then that gave up, so i got 2 reso's and the tard me rear muffler.

anyone know someone in aucks with a stocker exhaust?

Stock exhaust works pretty mint cuttingo ut the cat gets good gains i used to get some wicked flames out of mine
