AE92 leak?

Postby deaf_rattle » Fri Oct 27, 2006 9:28 pm

I have taken the carpet out of my ae92 fxgt to try and find a leak.
On wet days i get alot of water building up on the drivers side, mainly in the foot well just infront of the seat.
it feels dry up by the firewall.

Is there a common leak in these cars? or will i need to keep searching?

cheers

yeah - I know exactly where it will be leaking.
Water that goes down the vent between the bonnet and the windscreen... drains off to one side or another and flows out under the rear of the front guards and down the very front bit of the side panel that connects to the firewall. There is a seam as the water starts to flow downwards - this seam rusts out... take out the interior lining in the kickpanel area and look up with a torch and/or take the guard off and look through the holes in the covering panel. you can see the seam and the rust but you would have to cut a hole in the covering panel to get at the seam.
Awkward!
I hope I am wrong.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

thanks guys

sounds like a pain, but so is the smell when the carpet gets damp.

later on the car will get stripped abit for abit of track/motokahna use, but for now i want to put my carpet back in.

so might take the guard off and have a nosey.
