New link LEM

Postby slighty_sykotic » Tue Oct 31, 2006 3:04 pm

Hey Guys,

Anyone had a play with the new G3 LEM link?

Or anyone know the price for that matter.

It seems to have fixed the link problems, mainly being the useless idle controller, and not having the best resolution.

And it can take a wideband oxygen sensor straight into. Another good plus.

Hey - not yet, but soon will very possibly be playing with one in a Nissan. They are quite reasonably priced - they definitely seem a whole lot more advanced than your basic "garden variety" Link.

Installing one right now, no problems yet, will not have time to finish it before Thursday but will post any good/bad points.
Only 2 injector outputs so no.

Specs: http://www.linkecu.com/products/pdfs/lemg3specs
http://www.linkecu.com/products/engine- ... atdoesitdo
Data logging, USB connection etc. Fair bit more on there than the old one by the looks. I think they were around the $1450+GST mark

I'm not 100% sure on the pricing as I've yet to order/buy one but I'm sure I was told it was $1250+gst.I'm pretty sure that'd be retail as Link themselves are listing them on trademe at $1370 start price. But i could've always heard wrong or written it down wrong or something.

As for what they are like to use, they are basically the same as the Linkplus G2 platform but without a few inputs/outputs & some features from what I can see, have been told or read or in other words a huge improvement over the LEM V5. I'm a huge fan of the G2 platform & the G3 so far seems to be as good. All the g2's I've been involved with have fired up first time & haven't had any problems, & I'm pretty sure the g3's will be the same. If not I'm sure any probelms will soon be fixed in an update along with any other features that are needed just liek they've done with the g2's.

As above they only have two injector outputs, so sequential injection is a no, if you want sequential injection spend the extra $$$ & buy a Linkplus G2.

Hey,

In terms on 20v quad throttles...

What are they like on the new links in particular..

Andre from speedtech and brent from speedworks both don't like qaud throttles on a turbo.

Are they really that bad?

Wouldnt the blacktop bodies with the map sensor feed be alot better?

The G3 is a lot better with quad throttles... though its really down to the tuner for the result. Tuning multi throttle generally is a little harder.

its still possible to get a smooth(ish) tune with the quads. its just takes longer to get it just right thats all. when i first went to andre he recommended changing to a custom big single throttle setup, but after a lot of dyno and road tune its really good now. i only have a shite 4year old basic link too.

Using the 4d mapping option on a g2/g3 when using multiple throttle bodies seems to help a fair bit. in saying that I've never really had any probs with the old link, just took a bit of messing round to get it sorted.

Yeah, I saw it on that site.

I only thing with a LC1, is that you can't use it standalone AFAIK. The link acts as the controller in this case, I think to do A/F checks on mates cars without a link you need the controller. Like the LM1.

And I got a reply from Link about the cost of the g3 LEM.

Its $1200 plus gst, so $1350.

Postby ezy10s » Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:57 pm

Nah man LC-1 you can run direct to your laptop- i use this quite frequently especially handy when someone is doing mods but still running std ecus or the older style Link LEMs which dont have a wideband input.
It just comes up as a gauge on your screen. Works a treat

Or run to a PDA, or to a gauge... :)

Got the thing running today but am unable to tune it or even to get it running well as there appears to be a software fault! As you change a setting it changes itself back! I am going to call Simon as Link tomorrow and see if he can help but I would say it will be sent back to get sorted.

Awesome news about the LC1 then.

But what kind of connections does it have on the end of the cable?
