No, different flycuts for valves and different sized gudgeon.
The answer is Helmholtz!

id look at skimming the head to raise compression, and running a trd high comp head gasket,

after market rods and pistons ud be looking at leadt a couple of grand

could look at high comp redtop pistons, but i dont think they will fit bluetop rods without machining, and redtop rods wont fit bluetop crank :?

what about ZE pistons i know they would lower compression but could you machine the head down enough to raise compression to a n/a requirement?

could you not change the rotating assembly redtop smallport items to allow you the bigger gudeon pins etc.. and shave the head for a little more compression

but then again, for the amount of p1ssing around and $$ spent you could put redtop in there..

new to me

Postby TOYROTA » Thu Nov 02, 2006 4:18 pm

i havent done that much in depth engine work, the only motor i have pulled down that far was a 4k.
i have been ringing around today and got some prices for parts i want to put in my motor.

S/top quad throttles $150 i brought these from a wrecker

B/top pistons, rods, bearings and gasket set $950

HKS cams $575 each

HKS cam gears $295 each

HKS 1mm metal head gasket $309

HKS valve springs $195 for the set

price wise i didnt think all that stuff was that bad

You can get a TRD metal headgasket that is thinner for a third of the HKS headgasket price.

so this would be ok for a redtop?

rod length is same
crank is the same
fly cuts dnt really matter because they are non-inferance?

so would using b/t pistons and rods in a red top work?

I've got silvertop rods and pistons in my bigport redtop, its not running yet but it all fits well, just becomes an interferance engine.
