Decent 4" speakers?

Postby quick6 » Tue Nov 07, 2006 5:57 pm

I am after some 4" speakers with balls, if they even exist. I am sick of the constant procession of cr*p speakers that have marched through my car. I am after something that will handle about 50wrms (with an 80hz crossover) and will fit in stock a70 supra locations, separate components would be fine. I will not consider cutting the trim at all I am afraid. There must be something out there that would suit this purpose......help me!

I got some Infinity 4" speakers in my AW11 as thats all you can fit without chopping up the interior.

They sound really good but dont like bass.

Yeah I am not expecting to much bass wise (an 80hz x over is probably optimistic and quite possibly why I keep wrecking them) just don't want to have to keep removing the trim to replace the type of stuff Repco sell in this size. Its only a matter of time before I break a clip and start a rattle.....I will look into infinity as I saw them mentioned somewhere else, thanks for the reply.

Both Rainbow and DLS should have someting for you.
I have heard the Focal ones and they are sweet but hard to get hold of and I love the sound sould of the Rainbow and DLS speakers.

All are hand made and are of good quality for a small speaker.

Pauls Audio sell both DLS and Rainbow and they are good guys with heaps of experience.

The problem is they are running free air in the dash, they will need some sort of enclosure to sound good.

Thanks guys, that has given me a few more options to consider. I am not entirely sure where (if) I will be able to find them locally, perhaps in Palmerston. On a side note, they won't actually be running free air. A70 Supras do have enclosures both in the doors and in the boot, they are plastic though.......maybe I could strengthen them somehow for a better sound?
