Apexi SAFC-2 Tuning anyone had experience tuning one of these ?

Also Apexi plug in ecu in a R32 after max HP

Who's recommended

Happy to pay for results

gime a week or 2 and i may reccomend my tuner, he seems onto it. has many respectable cars under his belt

From the storys ive heard hes at the top of the list to avoid.. Somthing like 15 dead engines this year..

Robin to avoid?!?! Thats the first time I've ever heard of that kind of comment about him. Though admittedly I live on the other side of the island, the reputation I hear of him through the grapevine is he's real safe... just not necessarily going to get you the best power figure.

I wouldn't let anyone from Torque touch my car with a wooden pole. I've heard nothing but horror stories...

People I trust is Gavin from High Velocity and Suichi (sp?) from ST Hitec...

Robin has a rep for having engines blow on his dyno being the most used in auckland i dont think this fact is his fault.

Makes PC dyno days even more entertaining.

Nothing but horror stories from TP, he saw my dyno of 218rwkw, comes up to me "These figures are quite shocking, what turbo are you running?"

I told him it's a GT28RS, it's good for 330hp crank.

he tells me "if you let me tune it I'm sure I can pick up another 50kw"

Yeah, right. :roll:

Already on 35knock and 12.5a/f ratio, I don't know how he's gonna beat that cept dial more boost.

I got Mitsuhiro from JVS in Glenfield to tune mine on TP's dyno.
He used to work for Apexi back in Japan. He's at 53 C Hillside Rd ph.4412587

I'd say as above go with Soichi or Matsuhiro, both have worked for Apexi,R-magic or various other Japanese shops & have plenty of experience with Apexi/HKS stuff.

As for TP being the most used Dyno in Auckland, I'd doubt that. I know of a few dyno's that I'd say get used more than that, especially a couple of engine dyno's. I also know of a few people that regularly have still got a car on their dyno after 8-9pm at night & most of the weekends. I know of a dyno last week that was still going after midnight 4 nights in a row due to the fact there was so many cars to get through before the opening round of the national series.

As for engine blows or problems on dyno's, well the rumours always spread quickly & get exaggerated. I've heard of dodgey stories about everybody & spoken to people that won't go back to some places, but generally if someone is unhappy about their tune it's cause either the tuner did a shit job, or else the person who owns the car didn't want to spend the money/time etc to do it properly or wouldn't listen. The number of cars I've seen turn up for dyno that aren't running on all cylinders, or that are on deaths door already & then they expect a tuner to be able to screw big Hp out of a stuffed motor is unbelieveable. I know of people that've been tuning for over 30 years, in fact probably 40-45 years & strangely enough they don't seem to have lunched many motors.

Robin @ torque is freaking sweet.
It is so hard to blow an engine while tuning it unless its already poked or you have bought crap gear or after the max max power and disregard for engine life ...
all those named are fine car tuners and you should be happy with any of them ..
