I've actually got an electronic version of the service manual for this gearbox (well the mr2 version but pretty much the same), pm me if you want to organise a way to get it - it's 90 odd MB and I don't want to email it....

Im going to be rebuilding mine myself, im gonna pull apart a 4age gearbox for practice, but if i get stuck my old man is pretty good with gearboxes.

Shouldnt be too hard, ive pulled apart a few gearboxes before, its just the putting back together that gets tricky.

has anybody looked into upgrading these boxes at all?

what are the options? is there anything that can be done to get them to shift better? i know they can hold a shedload of power , but it seems to be common for them to wreck synchros.
does rebuilding one give a good result that lasts? as mine has been rebuilt plenty of times , altho im not sure to what extent. i guess its pretty tired inside by now.

Brendon , yeh sucks you cant get new lsd's for them anymore. i have a damn good LSD in my current box , it may even be an old trd one, but i was keen to build up a spare box with another good diff in it.

My diff is weird. When im drag racing it locks up and i have constant 2wd. Its like a rwd with a locked diff but in fwd, come to turn off the track and just wants to pull straight. get back to the pits and jack it up, i cant turn one wheel while the other is on the ground, when both jacked up they both spin in the same direction. weird
then after a while it goes back to normal.
