st185 gt4 A powersteering problem

Postby groupagt4 » Tue Nov 14, 2006 9:31 pm

Having problems with my powersteering pump a little thing that the vacuum pipes go on, on the vacuum switch broke so theres no place to put the pipe on.Power steering fliud is now leaking from where it broke.

Anyway i have 2 questions

1.why is it leaking there if its a vacuum pipe
2. does anyone have a vacuum switch they can sell to me(otherwise i have to buy a new pump)

All that is, is a idle up for when turning on the spot and keeps the revs up when the pump is doing work.

if you block off the hoses you can run without the idle up switch on the pump.

Just have to watch when you turn on the spot without any back or forth motion - make sure you keep the revs up otherwise you might stall.

one hose will be connected to the intake manifold and the other some where before the turbo...

chances the one thats leaking is the one thats connected to the intake manifold...

These break all the time. From what I've found there are pretty much three variations in refard to thread type and diameter of the pipes.

Any way, go to pick a part and take some off a bunch of Toyotas and find one that matches.

There is one that is identical to the ST185 one but fully made of metal, thats what I have, works a treat.
