Not a toyota.. but i'll ask anyway

Postby AE85coupe » Fri Nov 17, 2006 1:14 pm

hey i just got my hands on a mint *cough* Lancia Delta GT

anyway, sometimes when you rev it out in say 2nd gear, at about 4000 revs it has what feels like a fuel cut

the engine will cut out and lose power for a second, very similar to hitting a rev limiter

but this happens miles from its redline, any ideas what would cause this?

(as a note it revs right out happily in 1st gear, then on through the gears, it only ever does this if you start in a higher gear then try and rev it out, extremely annoying when you want to pass someone)

there does not seem to be any decent forums for random euro cars, so thats why i'm asking here

cheers

Maybe call a Euro specialist ... while he's more of a Fiat man, I'd try calling Maurice Thomson, of Maurice Thomson motors in TeAwamutu
07 871-7311

Though I am pretty sure he's working up at Rally NZ right now.

Cut out the chassis number, weld it to one of the incredibly cheap Integrale's on trademe and problem solved :-)

Not much support for eyetie cars here. Most Alfa discussion goes on on foreign forums.

Refresh my memory, is the GT engine carbed? Secondary not opening?

Put new plugs in, check the dizzy cap and take it for an Italian tune as the first step.

what motor is it running?

I used one for a motorkhana & autocross a couple of years ago, it was a 2 litre injected twin cam, had the go in a straight line but it had to be one of the worst handling cars i'd even driven.
you'd turn into a corner and then the back would try and pass the front, outta no where without warning the back would just break loose.

I don't know if this is any help but I've had a couple of cars do this, they were all fuel pump related problems. Maybe check for leaking O rings in pump. Come to think of it I had another car that had leaking O rings on injector rail, had same symptoms.
