Well I went down in the MR2, to see how it would go.
It was my first time drag racing, and it was heaps of fun!

It was heaps more fun than I thought it would be!
Even though my driving/times were shitty.

I got four runs in, and the best I managed was a 14.7
Reaction times were approximately the same length of time as the Mesozoic Era. (Best was a .69)

2.1 sec 60 ft time, 155kph trap speed.

I definitely have a lot of room for improvement, I should be good for low-flat 14s with my setup, maybe scrape some high 13s with a few mods.
Should be able to get a >2.0 sec 60ft time anyway, other MR2s with similar setup get around about 1.9-2.0 sec 60fts.

Notes for next time:

1. Get my tacho working, so I actually have an idea of what RPM I'm launching/shifting at.

2. Learn how to do burnouts properly. I only did a pitiful burnout on my 3rd run, it seemed to help a little. (I've never actually tried to do a burnout in this car before  )

3.Lower tire pressures perhaps? I didnt even think about that at the time, heh.

4.Get engine actually running properly before thrashing it more.

5.New exhaust system. The standard cat + muffler just aint cutting the mustard. :)

6. Maybe put my port/polished head onto that engine too, if I can be bothered.

However, I think that the biggest thing that would help would definitely be a tacho and maybe a shift light, I was shifting gears based on speedo estimations, but either hit the limiter or short shifted most of the time.
I didnt really take into account that I wouldnt be able to hear the engine too well through my helmet.

And 7. more practice!

Anyway, enough with the excuses.

All in all: Great fun! I will definitely be back. 8)

standard lsd not good, it just spins up 1 wheel now, thats why at the end of the night i was going slower lol. Then as soon as i was near 1/4 tank i think i kept geting fuel surge cos the car kept missing shots, filled up with what i had down there and it was better but still a little bit of missing.

Only good run was the 11.6@205, and i bogged the launch!!!! but 2nd hooked up well.

And yes i did win the c2 class, something happened to Audi mans car at half track.

So i'll have to install my surge tank system thats just sitting there, get a TRD/quafe lsd. but i'm happy for now :D

oh and brendons car, i think the i/c and piping is too small and its restricting it and not cooling the air enough.

so basically we all gota spend more $$$$$
:x

lol bazz ill do that tank this weekend ok :D
and you could just drill your stock lsd and put a heaveier weght of silicon in it :d

i went but there's something wrong with my car >__< realised something was amiss when i tried to do a burnout and it wouldn't rev past 4k, tried to do a pass anyway but couldn't give it more than about 1/8th throttle so i ended up almost rolling to the end of the track :(

I could be totally mistaken but IIRC they red light you if you go under .5 so .69 is actually not bad. Maybe someone else can confirm?

I think its the fuel pump, installed a big bosch one just before i came because i had issues with leaning out up top, worked fine most of the way there but then i started having problems around the bombay hills. got to meremere and found the power wire for my O2 sensor had fallen off so we fixed that and it seemed to sort out the problem, but then it started to happen again and just got worse and worse until the car was almost undriveable. I can hear the pump stuttering and it cant hold a steady pressure, even at idle. when i put my foot down, fuel pressure drops significantly :? i should add that it appeared, and sounded, to be working fine, and i had plenty of go when i left auckland
