Actually why don't you just turbo the bluetop and use bigger injectors with the link?

thats one of the reasons I'm running with a vf10, so I can upgrade to a bigger turbo later without causing too many problems.
sounds like it should be sweet then, if it was just the injectors stopping you going higher. they're easy enough to upgrade too should I need to...

and because the bluetop wouldn't reliably handle that sort of power would it? the car is my daily driver at the moment, i would like to keep it that way - whether I get to or not is a different story. but im hoping to build something as reliable as possible...
plus my bluetop is getting a bit tired anyway and smokes a bit if I put my foot down, so don't think it will last all that long once I put a turbo on the side of it

Lots of people have turbo'd bluetops, I haven't though, from what I've sen they seem to handle it very well as long as they are tuned well. But if its tired then I'd suggest using the 4agze bottom end you are wanting. Then you don't have to worry.

Yea injectors are easy to find, just get some supra 440's or early Evo ones.

yeah I was originally going to turbo the bluetop on stock internals and ecu etc, but decided against that idea and to go all out and build a 4agze turbo, w55/6/7, hilux lsd etc etc. that way I can still have it as a daily driver but also give it shit and take it around the track without having to worry if anything is going to break.

haha yeah, havent decided exactly what ill be running for brakes yet. what sort of upgrade would be required on a turbo 4age to pass certs? would standard ae86 discs pass? i'll probably be going for something alot bigger than that anyway...apparently skyline brakes will fit onto ae86 struts relatively easy and im running ae85 so hopefully shouldnt be too much difference.

Yeah, standard ventilated discs up front with discs at the back will pass.

The last cert guy I talked to said "ventilated up front is fine, rear drums aren't a problem" and that was a 3sgte into a corona.

Wont need bigger brakes really, but an upgrade pad set and some better fluid will make all the difference on the track.

yeah $400 is just a stupid price for a ze though...never seen one that cheap ever, this is probably about as close to that as i'll ever get though.
i think it comes with a gearbox which I can get rid of, plus the loom. its complete minus ecu and supercharger. hook ups

AW11 Bigport 4AGZE running a VF10 turbo (aiming for around 130kw)

Fuel system
I gather a VL commodore pump will be sufficient (as the one i've got was off a 4agte). at the moment thats all ive got, no surge tank or any other pumps etc (on a n/a bluetop). will this setup still be sufficient for the above turbo application? or would it be a good idea to run a surge tank too, or maybe 2 fuel pumps - one to pull and one to push the fuel thru? (as my understanding is that the VL pump relies on gravity to feed it, then it pushes the fuel from there, it doesnt "suck" it out of the tank)

Cooling
Will the standard 4AGZE intercooler be sufficient cooling for the engine? I would rather keep away from having a huge intercooler if I could, so the smaller the better.
How much hotter does a turboed engine run compared to a n/a engine? Im using the standard 3k radiator on my 4age at the moment and it keeps it really cool (under 1/4 on the open road), so hoping it will also be sufficient on a turbo application - and run closer to halfway as all other cars do! sound right, or is it likely to run alot hotter than im expecting?

cheers.

not disagreeing but why would it not be good enough ? as in a factory application that cooler sits on top of the engine and cools ok ? its not perfect but works ??

its barely adequate for the stock application. infact imo its not even that great for that. so when you stick a turbo on it and whack more boost through it... it sucks.

its ok for stock on the open road. but in town or modded its poos.
go w2a :D

Um, hoping early next year, finished uni for the year now, and start full time work now, so hoping for around jan/feb finish. Basically only major things to buy now are the g3 and the LC1. Then just put it all together and go driving 8) Got to decide if andre from speedtech or brent from speedworks is going to tune it. Both good guys, but andre seems to have done more quad throttles.

Thinking about getting a roll cage though.. or more likely, just a main hoop with back stays, meaning it will be behide the front seats, meaning that at wof time it should be sweet, correct?

Want to use it as a clubish/track car aswell, and I hear a rumour at a certain class is going to be opened to aw11's next year at manfeild? So Tex said, not sure what class though.

Probably would have been a S4 one, they're very efficient, though still only good for 250ish hp. I dont get why people use old ones from cars when aftermarket ones are so readily available and cheap.

what type of cooler do you reccomend for an aw11?

i was thinking of getting athicker bar and plate one mounting it in the standard position, and putting a big fan underneath it for round town etc.

and i am going to he heatwrapping everything in the engine bay.... and the exh manif and turbo are getting lagging that i managed to nick from work (the stuf they insulate superheated steam pipes with so theyre cool to touch)
