Super low spring = standard??

Postby shazeal » Wed Nov 22, 2006 7:20 am

I took my car down to Chamberlain Suspension in chch yesterday. when I went down to pick it up after work they were still changing the rear springs. The guy said that the 30mm lowering springs they put on raised the rear by 10mm, so they stuck some superlows on which dropped it by a whole 1mm!!
The only thing not in the boot was the spare tyre as I was getting a new tyre put on, but that weighs like 10kg?

The springs are cobras (which they make), and they said they would make some custom springs for the rear to drop it to the right height, but its kinda freaking me out. Arent springs that drop it even lower than their superlows going to handle like a sack of crap? Or is there something werid about my car? AE92 Levin 4AGZE, only thing diff I thought on the suspension side was that the rear swaybar is 15mm.. :?
Current - 83 Levin AE85 Notch.

Similar to my springs i had in my old gtz i'm running in the fxg. After time they are supposed to settle which will make the ride height drop by a further 15-20mm or so. Don't forget the springs are new and after a couple of months they are at the right height. Did he tell you to drive over some rough terrain, roads etc to allow them to settle?? Those were the instructions he gave me when i put my cobra's n my '86,

Lol that was fast

No I was talking to the boss he said hes never seen anything like it before and would make up some custom springs. I drove it for about 20 mins last night and its still sitting at the same height as it was before I took it down.

Just some extra info they changed the shocks (which they checked and are the same height as the old ones, and changed all the bushes to nolathane.

Also I can also vouch for Kings being ultra shit. They sag really fast and generally provides for a crappy ride.

Interesting, as there are at least 3 different types of inserts for KE70's. Pity the entire strut doesnt, would make life alot easier!
