i'm not bad mouthing cobra's in my first post, from my experience jamex are too soft and give a really bumpy/bouncy ride. when i put set of cobra's in my '86 it handled alot better round tight corners, made a huge difference. especially at track days down at Levels. And ruapuna at drags too.

The handling on the cobras seem sweet even with the wrong springs in the rear, Ive only ever had Jamex (linear), or custom made springs in my cars, so wouldnt know about kings. I guess Ill just have to get them to put in the customs ones for the rear and hope they dont sag, he did say if they did he would replace them anyway, just a real pita to take it off the road on weekdays.
Been driving all day so far and they are still at stock height, every other car Ive had lowered has gone to the height I wanted and stayed there, no need to "run them in".

I think you'll find that these companies which sell super low springs claim they give a 45mm drop or whatever, but in most jappas the front will go down 45mm but the rear will only go 25-30mm, so you'll get the rear end sitting higher than the front, which looks terrible.

The way around it is too get Chamberlains to make some custom shorter rear springs for you and get the struts shortened.

They probably will sag a bit but I wouldnt worry the fronts will too  So atleast itll be an even height

Mark is making me some custom springs, talked to him and double checked he said would be no need for shortened shocks as it will still be captive. Time will tell about the handling as he said there is bugger all else ill be able to do as their spring rates are basically identical to kings. Apart from going to short stroke shocks but im never going that road again for a daily driver car.

Interesting, as there are at least 3 different types of inserts for KE70's. Pity the entire strut doesnt, would make life alot easier!

inserts are all different sizes, but they all fit just the same

i've got ta63 shocks in ke70 struts for instance haha

ke70 balljoints are the same as ae86 too, just the steering arm bolt spacing is different, so if you get ae85/6 steering arms, your sweet

TRD race springs = good

just cut the cobras  hahaha

What springs do you recommend Warwick? Im going down this road soon.
Was just going to chuck in some Kings and be done with it but Ive also heard they dont drop the rear enough also, that just looks rude!!!

Chamberlanes, where are they based?, suppose Auckland like everyother place

anyone in Wellington that can do custom springs and shock shortening? something we dont have much to do with, I know MFKing in petone do leafs.
