Hey guys and gals, just a warning on those who have or are looking to buy big wheels for their car, I strongly suggest you buy from supplier who sells and backs good quality wheels, otherwise nasty things can happen, Check out these photos.
These wheels have not even seen a rattle gun, they were wound on by hand and then torqued up with a quality tourqe wrench
It had a tapered nut, torqued up to about 75 ft-lbs, 100 nm. never been curbed as you can see from top photo, and the vehicle would have only driven about 2 or 3 thousand k's with these rims on it.
I wouldn't say that, but next time I will spend more money, I need chromies on the car, otherwise it just doesn't stand out like it should, and with it being a show car it really needs to stand out.
sory but 3200 is no a cheap set of wheels
wy can you not get some sort of warrenty ??
and 100 n/m is a hell of a lot for a wheel stud
is this what the spec is for the car ??
im looking at that crack and i dont see that happenign by tighing the nut up.......\
and before you ask
yes i would consider myself very knowlagable in aliminum structure and falure
and i would be more than happy to have it sectioned for you and a test report made to determin inpurity/poristy and grain struture
v
Yeh the price isn't cheap but inside the crack it looks cheap, I'm trying to get warrenty at the moment, but trying to figure out what has done it is difficult. I'm a mechanic for toyota and 100nm is what we do commercials/utes etc wheel nuts up to, about 90nm for cars.

The mags were designed to have a tapered nut, the nuts came with the mags.
thats good then, I have seen a couple of idiots i mean customers put tapered nuts into mags that were ment to have shouldered nuts and wind them up and do the same things

Unfortunately I have no photo of the other side, I may have to talk to KINLOUD again to put a photo up,
Hey vvega, you said you were knowledgable in aluminium structure, any idea's on what may have caused this? I really want to know for future reference so it doesn't happen again, as you could understand.
i got hold of some ssa rims to use as race rims and they didntt seem too bad. i know a few other people using them too and havent heard anything too bad.
they are light as , being only 15" and look good being a bronze ce28 copy.only slight thing i noticed was the bronze coating wasnt over 100% of the wheel , but meh u get what u pay for. i picked em up about 150ish each, so even if they were shite i wouldnt really care.
they look identical to an Advanti Victory?
which i know does not have an appropriate load rating to be used on a hilux, this wouldnt have effected anything would it?
