Yeap i think Warrens Evo III was a step ahead of everyone else, his car might have a fancy paint job but its got an experienced driver, car is light n powerful, good brakes and semi slick tires.

I'd certainly hope I can get those kind of times next year - maybe a 1:49 even?? Worth a try

Was a good laugh firing round with the Supras.....shame you were in the other group earlier on Andy!! Lookin forward to the next time....with better tyres!!

Nah my speedo was saying 220-230 but the speed meter that I have hooked to my speed sensor read 215 and I'll probably just take that as it will be a little more accurate I think but thats just me.But I think for the big cars GRIP and a little more track time is the key I mean I was using Semi's as well and was having isuues with rear end grip but shit I still had a bucket load of fun...The good thing I think is that there were about 8-10 cars that were all within 2-3 seconds a lap this includes Supra's GTR's AE 86 Evo's and what not I found that interesting as if we were say at other tracks certain cars would do a little better than others and the lap times would be more spread out.
I mean Manfield is a good example of this as I can buzz around there all day in the 1.20 and just under without any troubles.I'm telling you guys who have'nt been there before get there especially you AWD guys it suits your cars to a tee and its fast I mean for me I'll hit 190 plus 3 times in a lap and there are also 3 full speed stops so your bakes have to be up to it.For me I spent about 12 months just getting mycar reliable where I can take it to the track do 30-40 laps and drive it home,Manfield though in my experience is a car killer as I have been doing these trackdays for about the last 5 odd years now and the amount of times I have seen things go pear shaped at the track is incredible...

This is one of the reason's why my car is as stock as it is I just figured Toyota no's a little more than I do so I have'nt changed to much I let them spent the Millions of $$$ on R&D and I'll just take that.I mean mods on my car as follows boost controller exhaust filter and fuel pressure regulator and thats about it to be honest...

yeah, long curcuit but with the "kink" prior to the old pits as opposed to the big sweeper

I hope to get down to manfield on the 18th if the boss allows it, would be nice to have a time to compare to you welingtonians.its been a while since I did my last laps there.

Regarding speeds people reckoned they were getting - interestingly enough apparently there was a speed radar there, and the highest it sounds like it measured was 206kph for a Skyline, or 203kph for Warrens EVO:

Yah, speedo's are laughably inaccurate at the big speeds.

Depends where on the straight they were taking the readings from. I remember when they had a radar setup at Manfeild for one of the trackdays they were halfway down the back straight and the highest speed they got was 170 or something from one of the supras

I worked out my 200km/h from tyre size and gear ratios using some of the online calculators that are out there. 8200rpm in 4th gear for a DC2 Integra = around 200km/h depending on what tyres are on it.

There's no way that was my Skyline
I'm not even gonna quote what my dodgy speedo reckoned it was doing!
Gotta get the dirty big flatspot tuned out of it, was surprised with who I could hold on the straight sometimes, being fully commited of the sweeper helps.

There was a speed radar on the short start/finish straight and a cop car on the long straight which may have been clocking cars too.

I was well over 206kph - im doin 210kph at the end of a standing start 1/4 mile so I think I was doin a "lil bit" better than that :)

Those Subaru boys thnk they can live with us in a straight line do they?

There are one or two that are quite rapid - but err yeah.... going to be interesting to see what yours could do with some sticky tires on it 8O

I think there are a couple of cars running 2l turbos that might be making a lot of power, but might be over turbo'd for the track. Will be interesting to see.

that was the thing that dad and i found interesting, i've got almost double the power of dads mk4 in my mk3, yet my times were only about 4 seconds different when i drove both the cars. goes to show powers not everything!

Your quite right power is'nt the be all and end all I was very impressed watching the AE86s going around corners I watched the purple and the yellow one while I was out there and with there balance grip and light weight they were fantastic to watch go around corners.

But for the heavier cars like mine grip is the key as with grip you can push alot harder but at the end of the day it was interesting seeing so many different types of car being so close, but in saying this though it will be a diffferent story if we were at Manfield as alot of you guys will be lucky to find out as Manfield being more wide open and faster the HP cars will have a big advantage maybe even up to 3-4 seconds a lap..
