What springs are fxgt club car owners using??? AE82 fxgt

Having driven my second speed event on Saturday i've come to the conclusion what i need to sort out, The front of my fx is a bit soft in the spring rate, The rear needs to be lowered to even out the ride height or lower it a bit.
What do all you track guys use in your fx's?? The concoction in mine is as follows:
Cobra springs front and rear, gabriel shocks 2 months old, extra sway bar on rear, Bridgestone potenza road tyres.
Anyone got any easily interchangable spring options they know about? I was thinking st16/82 celica rear and lower them appropriately,sv30 camry fronts?? Also what about spring re-tempering, would it alter the spring rate??

Probably not much help but Ill try. Think I told u this when u came around. When I was in the UK I took my escort mk4 to a racing suspension shop and got them to setup my suspension wanted max handling on corners. They put in some linear rate jamex 30mm lowering springs front and rear and koni short stroke shocks front and rear with full set of whiteline bushes. Previously the car had progressive 30mm lowering springs (were blue whatever that is) and kyb gas shocks. The difference on silverstone was amazing (not club racing but open days they had every month), it was alot more predictable on the corners I dont remember my times sorry but it dropped them alot

Pretty unscientific lol, but linear made a huge diff but I had to use short stroke to keep it captive which made ride comfort awful, but oh so fun.

Up until now i had been running a set of 'low' king springs (with Kyb Shocks) and whiteline 20mm adjustable rear swaybar. This setup worked superbly on road sprints & hillclimbs, but all the flaws came to light when on the track.

Faar too soft in the front which attributes to many problems, scariest being under hard braking (which allowed the rear wheels to both come clean off the ground )

Currently in development are some custom made coilovers using a Koni/King combo. So lots of testing time with suspension settings will be had when i've finished those

Too soft for ultimate victory on race tracks, but a good all around compromise for the variety of events I do.

If one wanted some good, hard, shocks and wasn't to worried (not at all) about ride hight and firmness what would you guys suggest? Engine will be getting another rebuild first.. but its something to look froward too.

what listings do you have for trd fronts Warwick? ideally it's front of the car that needs to be stiffer, as for the rear i've got a set of springs which would suffice but need to get shock machined to suit the spring to keep it captive

for TRD into an ae82 you need to modify it to take ae92 or ae101 struts

Yea Ive only ever heard good stuff about bilstein, mate of mine used them in his Lotus Elise race car never had problems, touch expensive and probably hard to get serviced in NZ?

for TRD into an ae82 you need to modify it to take ae92 or ae101 struts

Wouldn't be that hard would it?? after all ae92 struts to me looking at it length of the struts are same as ae82. What exactly would i have to do?

Ok anyone heard of boge shocks?? I talked to sas yesterday and they said that's best typr of shock as i don't want to go for coil overs. Who's heard good/ bad things about these?

i think you will find boge ones are just generic replacments. ie no sports value at all. could be wrong though.
you really need to be looking at something like koni imo

Just before your order new suspension... please answer a couple of questions. This will help identify what you have and what might need to be changed to improve your car.
- when you drove in the "speed events" what track/part of track where you driving on? Ruapuna?
- what didn't you like about your cars handling? understeer, oversteer, bodyroll, turn in response, stability under braking?
- did the handling you don't like occur at high speeds or low speeds?
- what rate springs do you have at the moment?
- why do you say you need higher spring rate in the front?
- "extra swaybar on rear" - have you doubled up 2 swaybars?

Spring retempering will not change the spring rate.
If you don't know what spring rate you have, I can help you work it out.
