Boot strut problem?

Postby toyrota mota » Thu Nov 30, 2006 9:57 pm

Ok Ive got a strange problem. I took the boot struts out of my wagon then when I went to put them back in I find that one of the nuts on the inside of the pillar where the bottom of the strut screws in has got rusty and fallen off! And theres no way I can get my hand up in there to hold the nut there. What can i do to fix this? Because now I only have one strut and my boot doesnt stay open.
Can I get a strut from another car thatll fit and be strong enough by itself to hold the boot up?

one idea COULD be to make up a small plate, drill a hole to which you bolt the bottom of the strut, then rivit the small plate over the existing hole so that the strut sits in the normal place.

rangi, but cheap
