where to put crossovers

Postby Cicak » Sun Nov 26, 2006 3:20 pm

I'm just wondering where everyone puts their crossovers. I have an ae111 levin, and just thinking of where i can put mine. Has anyone had any experience in this? Any special place in the ae111 that you can put crossovers in? Not too keen on putting them into the door

What kind of setup do you have ...2way, 3way crossovers...

you can put them under seats and wire to doors is all good as it keeps it neat or under dash as once set you will not need to change crossovers if adjustable.

I'm going to run focal 2 ways. The speakers will be powered by an amp, with the rca's and the speaker wires running down the center console. I was thinking of putting them in the dash. I have never put them in the dash before. Do i need to remove the dash? Sorry for the newbie questions

It doesn`t matter where they go really as long as they are not along way away from the speakers and they are out of the way of other car equipment.

Just place them in an inconspicuos place and secure them against something.

They will not want to get wet or hot either.

That leaves you a lot of places to put them.

The door is really the best place to put them. Its hard enough trying to get one set of decent sized wireing through the factory gromet without putting the tweeter wireing in there too. That is if your using the factory tweeter locations. Otherwise just stick them behind the glovebox and under the dash on the other side.

In my ae101 I put them in behind the kick panels, there's heaps of room in there.

But as said getting 2 sets of speaker cables through is a bitch.

There's room for a cross over behind the door pocket at the trailing edge of the door in an AE101. At least that's where the crossovers for the Infinity's in my doors are.

thanks, there's a bit of space under my dash, i'll try pop them in there. Hopefully i'll find a good place other than the door. If not i'll just have to go with the plastic bag covered cross overs in the door

On my Ae111 I put them behind the door skins, Theres a gap in their big enough and they are hidden which means no pesky theives can see them easily
