is there any1 in west auckland that has wired in a 'link' computer?(4agte) and if so would u like 2 come and help wire up another?? And who should i take the car 2 2 get dyno tuned? i need names people. has 2 be done b4 christmas!!!

If its anything like wiring in my Motec if you follow the instructions you should be good as gold.

Id reccomend my tuner, but i want car going first

sorry let me rephrase my question. we need 2 talk 2 some one that has delt with a 4agte, to sus out the complacations of 1 of 2 things. the first being running power stering from a standard throtle body, and wat the boost will do to the power ster-assist. the second being the link. we knw how 2 hook up the link, but.. wat happens 2 everything else that the old computer took care of?? do we run both computers in unisen, with the standard computer having everything else (apart from the sensors now going to the link) running to it??

The std ecu shouldnt need to control anything...

Just disconnect the power steering solinoid and vacuum lines. Disconnect the air con idle up etc too. Then just set your warm idle to 900 instead of 800. It will be fine.

The power steering lines are to up the idle when you turn the wheels when your idling. I don't think you will have boost at idle doing a parking mavoure . Plus its just one more place to leak under boost. Just remove them.

The only thing that might have a problem is the air con, I don't know how much the air con computer relies on the ecu. Bah, you don't need it though


And as above, its easy. Just follow the instructions.

ok thanks, thats very helpfull! but with regards 2 the computer, wat happens to the loom going into the standard computer from the drivers side of the fire wall? do we just leave it unpluged?

Ok, in that loom connection from the body to the ecu...


You will need to work out the following wires to connect (note, there are no wiring diagrams and at least 3 or 4 different verisons...) :

Alternator light wire
speed sensor
reserve lights
tacho (negitive side of coil)
water temp
um.... That might be it..


Basically, get the car going with the link by itself, then start working on the gauge culster (those loom connections). You don't need any of them for the car to run.

Or a easier way, unplug the std ecu. Install the link and lay the link wiring loom over the top of the motor and exisiting loom. Then go around and cut each plug from the motor and join to the link loom. Like injectors, coil ingitor, dizzy etc. Then just tape it all up and forget about it. Everything should still work, only problem is that its messy.

If you want to do neatly, remove the engine loom, leaving the fuse box and all that. Then install the link to the motor using plugs from the engine loom you removed, then get it running, then worry about those connections.


OH!!! the fuel pump is on that engine loom to body loom connection. Its a thickish blue wire from memory, you will need to use a relay from the link (instructions show that of course).
