a freind has a 20vblacktop in a escort race car and is having a few issues getting it to run right

it has a lower rev limit and brings up a warning light

No, its farrrrr worse than that.

It wont run smoothly (at least with a auto ae111 blacktop ecu).

I had this problem in my aw11 with a blacktop.

Massive hesitation, feels like its missing really really bad.

Fixed instantly when I hooked up the wire.

oh really. is it important to have an accurate speed signal?

I don't think so, as I doubt my aw11 gearbox is putting out the same as the blacktop gearbox in the car it came out of (maybe, I might be wrong).

I think it just needs any signal. Make one with a 555 timer and circuit, or buy a thing from Matt.

The signal is important, but the accuracy is not,

and it only seems to affect the BT's from what I can tell
as the early 4AGE's will throw a code and bring on th light but wont affect them.

I agree with that, i've run my 4agte on a 4agze ecu, and a couple of std 16v, and none of them had the speed sensor hooked up, and they all ran fine (with the check light on).

This is what I have come up with for the 555 chip. Is there anything I can do to improve this?

Decrease values of the RC chain resistors and increase capacitance, 10MOhm is too big for this oscilator to work stable.

I don't have a speed signal as my car was originally 3AU, thats why I need to fake one. That is using the output from dash and modifying it.

you could use a flip-flop to half the freq of the signal. as long as you dont plan on going over 360 km/h lol
meh.....

I don't think you understand. I have no signal and I need to create one, from nothing. This has nothing to do with removing the speed cut, it is to get the engine running better because at the moment it is missing which apparently is caused by not having a speed sensor.

I built that circuit to oscillate at around 60Hz and put it into the car today... 8O it made a huge difference, honestly well over 50kw more power
