I'll go down the corolla route I were you to stay competitve, pity we don't get those down here (2 dor AE110's? I think that's what they are), how about import one and transfer all the ST205 stuff over? A lot more competitive imo (and easier on the eye!!!)

Mitsi - just get an RS, no climate control, wind up windows. The biggest issue is the rust in the roof!

The aim of my budget rallying is to keep it as simple as possible and have as much seat time as possible. As such I'll run as many standard components as possible, and modify the shell as little as possible (as I'll munt it at some stage,). ECU, Terratrip, terraphone, underbody, weight reduction, cage, suspension, seats and belts will pretty much be it for the first year of use. Then she might get a little more power... I just want to suck it and see.

Too bloody true. 4 door modifed shopping trollies with no sex appeal. Not that I think the GT4 is all that sexy... but it's certainly no shopping trolley.

and believe it or not thats another thing on my very extensive shopping list. Its currently got the useless facelift spoiler.... no good to push with.

And yes, I cant deny I'm very hard on equipment.

Righto, thats enough pissing around... off to Hororata to belt the puss out of the Lancer....

Damn! 4.5k. Would've been tempted myself.

It's about time somebody had a crack at one of these. With all 3 regional championships now running a pre 96 4WD class (in place of the old pre 92) this car has a real place to play competitively.

Redmist, I'd hang off spending any time or money on restricting the intake for now.
Can't say anymore at the moment but wheels are turning.

I've got to study the regional regs more. This car is unfortunately a 97, wonder if I can get dispensation considering the car didnt change from 94-97!

The Lancer pissed me off today. Took out Class 4 in the Hororata Autocross. Would have been first overall if I hadnt missed a gate and taken a 30 odd second penalty. Pissed me off because its such a good club car, its going to be hard to beat with the GT4. Very hard.

It had slight front end damage from Japan. Has been repaired for 3.3k, parts an additional $1250 (reciepts) Its gone through cert (and paid for) and passed for everything other than airbag. Needs front left guard sprayed and its currently got a 202 bonnet, but he even provided me with paint.
However I still dont know how on earth I got it that cheap. Too good an opportunity to pass up. And as the basis for a ST205 rally car its perfect. Just a couple of years two new to race pre 96... bugger it.

I assume that was AutoSport's AutoCross?

Would have been down there with the Mazda POS from last one of their Autocrosses if not for the Speed Event same day.. who took the overall win?

Its got the facelift 3 point rear spolier, and lights but the seats dont have Recaro imprinted on them, I suspect they are standard Celica cloth.
I'll pull out as much of the interior as I can and flick the lot on.

Was it you in the Kirwee autocross? RED Mazda POS that "shouldn't have passed scrutineering" Didnt you finish spectacularly well?
I have the silver Lancer.

This event was even tighter with only two stretches where I grabbed second. The 4WD was just a nightmare, pushing everywhere. Still I got the fastest time of the day by three seconds in the last run... due to missing the gate on the first run I didnt place. The winner was in a orange Escort driven with a 2.0 worked Cortina?

I might be telling you stuff you already know ... but if you're turning it into a rally car ... if you run additional bars from the lateral bar either to the strut tower, or to the firewall, and run FIA8855 standard seats in both sides, as well as all the usual stuff you would for a rally car, then you can have airbags removed on your MSNZ Authority Card.

Yep, just been through the authority and low volume cert process for the Lancer. Just had to clarify with the certer what was the easiest way to go about it.... looks as if it it'll be converted to a rally car first then certed.

That was us - its a Shared Car. My flatmate who drove did indeed get First place, I cocked up a gate on my second run, causing a 5 second delay dropping me down the table.

Guess we'll see you at the next AutoSport Interclub Autocross, and we'll be bringing the Mazda POS (it now has a Logbook! - which a certain someone said there wasn't a hope in hell of it getting one)....
