1:16 is really fast for a levin. Whats done to it?

I think I am correct in saying that "everything" was done to GH's AE86!

Although 1.21s at manfield are just around the corner which is pretty fast for a road legal AE86 with a standard engine!

Standard engine yep thats me as well and factory weight 1600 kgs with the lightweight me attributting to 110 kgs of that weight...lol,well I gotta eat right..My car is a boost controller,full exhaust and cold air box with pod filter.I still run the Factory turbo's yes ct12 pea shooters cams,injectors and ecu....But in saying this I have raped the TRD catalogue for suspension bits basically everything you can get for the Supra I have Bushes Swaybars Springs and Shocks.Brakes Standard Sumitomo 4-pots slotted TRD rotors with TRD red pads front and rear.

GH 1.16 around Manfield is flying what class or series do you run in??

I mean the quickest I have been around Manfield is 1.19.4 and I'm absolutely going for it and the only way I think I can go quicker is lose some weight which I doubt will happen or go to slicks which I don't want to go to as I like the fact that my car is a true street car full interior aircon and drives to the track and drives home.. :D

wasnt the supra designed to be some sorta supercar tho???so if it was slow it would just be gay??? It would have better aerodynamics than an old rolla, or a box like evo?

I guess all im saying is that yes your car might be largely standard, but so's a GT3, so i guess you gotta keep in mind what a car was designed for?

I know I've seen a "road car" FD3S RX7 (ie, it was obviously setup for track - but no less road car than many of the cars people on here drive) on I *think* was Formula-Rs get seriously close to if not crack the 1:16s around Manfeild. Can't remember the exact times, but it was very pleasing to see :D

Mate there are a few sleepers out there but the line between peoples thinking of a real street driven road car and street/circuit car are very slim.In my opinion a real street car that goes to the track is one that is driven to the track for starters full interior and road legal tires no cage WOF rego they are a few things I'd look at to really be called a street/circuit car but others may think different and this is only my opinion.. :D

There is a difference between "daily driver" and "street legal" - i assume thats whats up for debate here :-)

Ahhhh now i can see why 1:16's is achievable.....i've actually met GH at Puke and admired his car. Out of interest what times do you run around Puke?

I agree Coryn, my car isnt "street legal" at the moment although it still has a WOF/reg. The 1/2 cage has never been hologated and several mods need certing. Its what i'd call "JDM street legal" as i've modelled it on those kinds of vehicles one would see in Japan. It has carpet, a stereo, central locking and pwr steering..... :lol:

I dont have aircon though so that makes my car extra dodgy :oops: :lol: :lol:

personally i think "driving" to a track doesnt make 1 bit of difference, i trailer because I like to be prepared and its a nicer drive home if you have rock hard suspension etc, plus why sit 4 hours from home waiting for a tow? I used to think nothing of driving to AK and running a drag meet or going to every manfield open day, Taupo club days but a few mishaps put me off that, plus beer keeps colder in an airconed tow car.

I think theres probably a difference between "able to be driven on the street" and actually being "street driven" , but hey, thats no different to the dyno ponies and cars with tv screens where they shouldnt be that win shows and claim to be "driven".

Now- im just waiting for mr Evo 88u to turn up on this...isnt he down to 1.14 now?

I reckon Mr 2JZGTE's car is probably the most impressive case of meeting the "daily driver" category - cracking 1:19s with a not overly modified reliable AUTO car often seen driving on the road is immensly impressive. There are a couple of rexs I've seen do it, though I'm pretty sure whenever I've seen them on the track they're pretty hollow.

Twstd nice pics of my old version of this car (see the mod plate to the right of engine bay) that car indeed did 1.04 puky, 1.16 man, 41 taupo (I think) on old track, 1.47 on slicks new track. New version more POWER finish soon.

Everyone has there own opinion on the street/circuit car as we have already seen with the responses which is all good....

Now Evo 88u I have personally watched this car evolve over time and I give credit where credit is due but about a year ago I thought this car went to just from a street/circuit car to just the latter and with it now being fully caged stroked slicked it is really moved on up there.Last time I heard I think he was at a 14.7 at Manfield but now he's after 10s so he will definitely be untouchable unless you have a bank balance to match also he's not a bad peddler either.Personally if I wanted to go sub 14 quick it would cost me probably another $30-40 grand and thats for real so I think I'm pretty close to the limit of what I have and in the end if I'm not willing to spend the $$$ you just gotta be happy where your at.....For me any day at the track where I can drive there thrash all day and drive home is a good day in my books. :D

Yes it was supposed to be in that class just below supercar status 10-12 years ago but technology has moved on hence why there are so many cars that are as quick or quicker now.Aerodynamics well yes they are meant to be quite slippery but this is offset by there weight and large frontal area.So aerodynamics only play a part in high speed running now if we were on a motorway or Autobarn then you'd see the aerodynamic advantage but on a track I don't think there is one to be honest..

As for straight out performance well this is the reason I like the Supra because the base performance is quite high you don't have to do alot to get alot and the thing that I most like is not its performance which is more than adequate but its the reliability I can beat on my car all day and it just keeps coming back for more.. :D

Part of the fun is driving too n from the track.......some roads which can only be sampled when your near Taupo which just need to be driven come to mind esp behind Mangakino! If i had loads of loot and could build myself a nice race car trailor I think i'd still drive to events as this shows a true "street car" - well at least it does according to my own definition of "streeter" :)

Man 1:14's is a superb effort, who does his work now since the divorce with Speedtech?

Coryn i see what your saying

A bit like the old GTR I feel...........back in its heyday before the Evo's were even on tarmac they had no competition. Nowadays the playing field is more level and the "big dogs" dont really have a home - but in saying that they are always fun especially when trying to tame their behaviour :lol:

Im just in it for the fun, you prob will never see me at Superlap in this car but maybe someday i'll build something else and give it a go. Too much money and sentimental value tied up in the old bltch :D
